Salon Thalia opened in the prestigious Curtis Center in the middle of downtown Philadelphia in April, 2004. After being open for a few years Salon Thalia decided they wanted to expand their operation to include a web site with e-commerce capabilities. Salon Thalia contacted avEIGHT for this project. Soon avEIGHT, with design help from Sean Kernick, had a fully functional web site with a Byte Merchant® e-commerce suite ready for Salon Thalia.
FruitFlowers hired avEIGHT to design, code and host fruitflowers.com. avEIGHT worked in conjunction with Matt Davis to produce a site with the look and feel FruitFlowers desired. Matt did all of the illustration and layout, then avEIGHT gave feedback and coded the site. FruitFlowers had very specific needs for their web site.
In addition to static content, FruitFlowers' site contains a secure online store, as well as many customizations to suit their fast-paced, localized business model. The franchise aspect of their business requires that the online store function with the same considerations as the actual, local shops. Since all products are perishable and they require local delivery or pickup, FruitFlowers does not represent the typical online business. The site must act as a mesh of store fronts, just as their nationwide franchises do in the real world.
Michelle Lipson is a high end furniture maker in Philadelphia. Michelle's old site was not giving her the look that she felt best represented her work, so she turned to avEIGHT's skilled design sense and usability expertise to bring the level of visibility to her work that she wanted.
Michelle's site is a virtual art gallery for her pieces. We think they look great, and we believe you will think so, too.
The Bristol Riverside Theatre (BRT) was looking to expand their audience by updating their web site and
offering online ticket ordering. avEIGHT was hired to provide a full service solution. Working in conjunction with Margraffix (designer)
avEIGHT provided a robust ticketing solution (using our shopping cart software Byte Merchant®) allowing BRT to offer many online
ticket options including: single show tickets, season tickets, flexible subscriptions, senior/student discounts. As an added bonus the
full season subscription automatically calculated the price reduction once a play had closed and was no longer available. Also, BRT
signed up for avEIGHT's mass e-mail club, which allows BRT to quickly and easily e-mail information to people interested in their plays.
Northern Liberties Neighbors Association - nlna.org
The Northern Liberties Neighbors Association needed a website that was not only attractive but easy to update,
so that it could provide information to residents in a timely manner, including an interactive calendar, numerous downloadable PDF and
Word documents, photographs, and event listings. This site is an excellent example of a way to maximize the web design budget by incorporating
existing web-based technologies (Google Calendar and PayPal) but still providing a custom-designed web solution.
This year, Fringe Festival goers will be able to keep up with festival happenings by checking out reviews, comments, up-to-the-minute news and video clips via the festival blog. Using Nucleus CMS, a fully-customizable freeware blog software solution available on the web, we were able to get this blog up and running for the festival with very short notice.
